Efforts by the Government to resolve the raging conflict in the Kerio Valley region have run into headwinds after a section of leaders from the Pokot community expressed their opposition to the proposed security operation to flash out armed bandits and cattle rustlers.

The leaders want the operation suspended claiming that the selection of new police reservists favoured one community leaving other communities living in the region exposed.

The Pokot leaders have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to take personal charge and resolve the crisis and accusing Deputy President William Ruto and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet of taking sides in the conflict.
And as k24’s Richard Kagoe reports, the Kenya Red Cross has resumed its humanitarian assistance to the clash prone area after suspending its operations last friday citing insecurity.
